Time is not a Factor
This talk explores how we can begin to gain spiritual freedom from limitation associated with time and age. Time is a constant in physics, but totally disappears in metaphysics. Time measures matter, but divine Mind or spiritual consciousness is immeasurable and infinite. This talk distinguishes between time and timelessness, age and agelessness, and encourages freedom from mortal limitations associated with time by understanding more about the spiritual nature of life. This understanding leads to more freedom, more productivity, and more harmony.
Time is not a Factor is not about how to get the most out of a 24-hour day, but how to gain dominion by living in the timeless, stressless spiritual now. We’ll look at what we mean by eternity. Is it a never-ending series of nows? What is immediacy? The Bible says, “Now is the accepted time; now is the day of salvation.” Could salvation mean, in part, freedom from the mortal tyranny of time?
The talk points out the advantages of identifying ourselves truly as God’s spiritual idea right now – continuous, ageless, useful, and as indestructible as He is – rather than as limited, aging mortals.
Finally, the listener is encouraged to allow his or her thoughts or moments to be God-moments – God-inspired and God-motivated. In this way the listener will be able to begin demonstrating that truly, time is not a factor.

In his own words: When I was five or six years old, my mom told me that if I ever got in serious trouble, I could reach out to God and God would help me. Not long after that I found myself in mid-air, falling backwards. In that moment I remembered my mom’s promise and reached out to God. An idea came to me that brought that moment of terror to a harmless close, and opened for me a lifelong knowledge that I could really trust God in any situation.
Throughout my boyhood, I experienced and witnessed many instances of God’s practical guidance and protection. And by the time I graduated college, it seemed natural to let God guide the first few steps of my career.
Right out of school, I began in the graphic arts, and continued to develop into promotion, marketing, manufacturing, and management. I ended up managing production operations and advertising organizations. I picked up an MBA along the line at night because I needed the skill sets. But looking back on it, even from the start the real work has always been about patience, perseverance, intelligence, focus, problem-solving, ethics, progress, attention to detail, and learning to combine “wisdom, economy and brotherly love” in every situation.
In around 2000, I rented an office part-time so I could help people through prayer. I was only there a couple times a week, but the devotion of thought to that work seemed to open it up, and after several years I left my work in management and entered full-time into the public practice of Christian Science healing, which lead to becoming a Christian Science Teacher in 2009. At that point my wife, Carol, and our dog, Ellie, and I relocated to Chicago where I now practice and teach.
Throughout my life I have had many experiences that have demonstrated the presence and availability of God in a flash, and that in any situation, “underneath” truly, “are the everlasting arms.”
